Good afternoon grade one families!

Today we explored doubles addition (1+1=2,  2+2=4,  3+3=6, 4+4=8 etc.) We are working on our mental math skills as well as trying to improve our speed and accuracy.

In literacy, we did word work and tried to figure out how many words we could spell using the letters:

a c c h r s t

Ask me how many words I was able to spell and some strategies I used to help myself.

We are learning about the differences between rural and urban communities. We made lists of some of the things we might find in rural areas compared to urban areas. We then created beautiful urban scenes using only paper, scissors and glue! Our scenes included paved roads, sidewalks, tall buildings, stop signs, traffic lights, cars, airplanes in the sky and more! They turned out amazing.

Today we had a lockdown practice and the grade ones did a great job staying calm, quiet and doing exactly what they were supposed to do. Well done grade ones. Thank you for understanding how important it is that we have fire drills and lockdown drills so that we are always prepared and safe.

Have a wonderful night and enjoy the beautiful weather:)

Love the grade one team
