Good afternoon!

Over the last two days, both classes have had the opportunity to bring snow into the classroom and build miniature snowmen! Ask me what I observed about the snow and what I wondered about the snow!




We are so excited to see you tonight and tomorrow at our concerts!

Happy Friday families! Today we sent home a tree seedling with every grade one student! There are care instructions on the packaging. "ALBERTA’S GRADE ONE TREE SEEDLING PROGRAM is a cherished tradition dating back to the 1960’s. The students receiving their seedlings today likely have parents and even grandparents who also planted a Grade One tree. They might even be able to show it to you! Alberta Forestry, Parks and Tourism distributes 70,000 Grade One seedlings every year. The two species of trees we distribute are native to Alberta and are commonly found in our forests." Today we continued to read and write words that end in "le" and words that have a "sh", "wh" and "th" sound within them. We did some Pete the Cat inspired math using addition and subtraction to figure out how many buttons Pete and his family had and how many buttons they lost. Hello grade one families, Happy Friday! This morning we did some poetry. We have been doing such a good job reading our poems! Ask me about some of the sight words in our poems. We had an assembly today to celebrate exceeding our Terry Fox Run goal. Students got to pie Mr. Magowan, Mr. Patry, and many teachers in the face! It was so much fun and so exciting! There was lots of laughter and smiles. Copperfield really does have heart!!!  We are hoping to do some pumpkin activities and will be accepting pumpkin donations for our classroom anytime! Thank you in advance:) Next week, in Social Studies, we will begin talking about My World: Home, School, and Community. We are inviting students to bring in a family photo so that we can make a gallery in our classroom. We have had an AMAZING start to our home reading program!!! Pink Shirt Day is Tomorrow! (plus read & roll)

  February 22nd -   Pink Shirt Day Website Link Tomorrow at Copperfield School students and staff will continue to practice kindness and caring by recognizing PINK SHIRT DAY 2023 .  There will be 2 assemblies hosted by the morning and afternoon kindergarten classes to share about the origin, meaning and purpose for this important day. If you or your child has a pink shirt at home, please have your child wear it to school tomorrow to further show their support! This morning students "rolled" their way back into learning after the long weekend! Please ask your child about the "Roll & Read" activity, and words that end with  -ff, - ll, -ss, and -zz  that they practiced.  (see prictures for reference)
