Good afternoon!

Over the last two days, both classes have had the opportunity to bring snow into the classroom and build miniature snowmen! Ask me what I observed about the snow and what I wondered about the snow!




We are so excited to see you tonight and tomorrow at our concerts!

Good afternoon families! Today we sent home some very exciting information about our up-coming Read-A-Thon. We are looking forward to celebrating our favourite books by participating in several school wide activities. With a new season just around the corner, let’s SPRING into  read ing!   Our 5th annual Copperfield  Read -A-Thon will take place from March 6th   - 17 th  and you can already begin to gather sponsors to collect pledges for books  read  by students. The amount that sponsors choose to donate is up to you! Throughout our  Read -A-Thon, students will have the opportunity to  participate in having guest  read ers join their classes virtually and in person. These guest  read ers may include a variety of  read ers such as CBE professionals, emergency service personnel, authors, artists, and athletes. Good afternoon grade one families! We had an amazing day of learning. This morning we watched a short film of the beloved story The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. Afterwards we used loose parts to create scenes and characters and wrote sentences to describe our loose part art. The film was wonderful and our loose part creations were AWESOME! We are finished our Reader's Theatre and our puppets are proudly displayed in our windows. This year we made a fall tree at the Leighton Art Centre, a winter tree using cool coloured paint, a spring tree out of tissue paper and today we started our summer tree art using plasticine. They are inspired by Canadian Artist Barbara Reid. Love the grade one team

Good afternoon grade ones! In writing, we continue to focus on specific skills such as using finger spaces between words. We have been doing a great job and showing lots of progress.  In math, we continued exploring our math bags and power of ten cards.  Today we sent home information about "Spotlight Student"! We are very excited about this upcoming Social Studies project as we learn about our families, our history and our communities. Please reach out if you have any questions! Remembrance Day: We are accepting donations for the poppy fund. There will be a Remembrance Day assembly on Thursday, November 10th at 10:30am. Families are welcome.
